I’m 19, From East Yorkshire — and I’ve Already Visited 10 Countries. Here’s How.
Let me be honest with you from the start — I didn’t come from money, I don’t have a trust fund, and nobody handed me a free trip. I grew up in East Yorkshire, finished sixth form, and had the same conversation most people my age have: do I go to uni, get a job, or somehow figure out how to actually live?
I chose the third option. Sort of.
I’m Olivia. I’m 19. And over the last couple of years I’ve ticked off Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Netherlands, Australia, Fiji, Mauritius, Zante, Copenhagen, Paris, and Gran Canaria. Some of those were full-on backpacking trips. Some were shorter holidays. None of them bankrupted me.
People ask me constantly — how do you afford it? The honest answer has two parts.
Part one: I stopped paying full price for travel.
There’s a travel membership I use that costs £32 a month. Through it, I get access to trade-level discounts on flights, hotels, and packages — the kind of prices that used to be reserved for people who worked inside the travel industry. I’m not going to pretend every trip is free, because it’s not. But the savings are real, and they add up fast.
Part two: I built a small income stream from it.
More on this in other posts — but briefly, the same membership that helps me save on travel also gives me the opportunity to earn by sharing it with other people. It’s not a get-rich-quick thing. It took me months to see meaningful results. But it’s real, and it’s mine.
This blog is where I’m going to be completely transparent about all of it. The trips, the costs, the membership, the business side, and what it actually looks like to build something at 19 while still having the time of your life.
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
